My name is Julie Brooke. I have level 3 NVQ in Health and social care and have up to date training in child protection (safeguarding), administering medication, first aid, epilepsy, epipen, personal care, moving and handling and food hygiene. This list is not exhaustive and my training is ongoing and continually updated. Certificates are available for viewing if required. For 13 years I was employed in a local mainstream primary school first of all helping children with literacy and numeracy. I then began to work alongside children who displayed challenging behaviour and for the past two years I have been the one to one key worker for two young boys who have different special educational needs due to their disabilities. I resigned from this employment in July 2013 to concentrate on the respite at Norfolk House as I wanted to be able to offer parents more flexibility of dates. For the past 8 1/2 years I have also been working with families of children with disabilities allowing the young people to access the community whilst providing short periods of respite to the family. I have an enhanced CRB check and have had a clean driving licence for over 25 years.
I am married and have two children aged 22 and 18. I do not have much time for hobbies, but I enjoy singing, cooking, gardening, my cats and spending time with my family and friends.
